Happy Tuesday, Community!
We’ve all heard that "consistency is king." For years, the gold standard has been the weekly newsletter, sent rain or shine, because "that’s what we always do."
But here is the strategic hard truth: A consistent schedule doesn't guarantee a consistent connection.
If you are sending a message just because the calendar says so, you aren’t building a relationship; you’re just creating a routine. Today, the real competitive advantage is moving from Calendar-Based Sends to Value-Based Sends.
The Strategy: Audit the "Why" Before the "When"
Instead of starting with the clock, start with the customer's journey. Strategic relevance is about moving away from "shouting into the crowd" and toward "answering the call."
The shift looks like this:
-
Focus on Intent: Stop asking "When should I send?" and start asking "What is the next logical step for my customer?"
-
Respect the Inbox: Every time you send an email, you are spending "trust capital." Ensure the value they get out of the message is higher than the cost of their time to read it.
-
Match the Momentum: Some customers are moving fast and need more frequent touch-points ; others are in a holding pattern. Your strategy should adapt to their pace, not yours.
The Shift:
Relevance over Recurrence means prioritizing the impact of your words over the frequency of your sends. It means using your data to ensure that when your name pops up in an inbox, the customer thinks, "This is exactly what I needed," rather than "Oh, it’s Thursday again."
Your Tactical Challenge: Look at your upcoming plan. If you removed the "date" from the send, would the content still be vital to your customer's success? If not, it’s time to trade your routine for relevance.
Quick Question: Think about the brands you actually enjoy hearing from. Do you love them because they email you on a specific day, or because they always seem to have the right answer? Let’s talk about it below! 👇
