Unsubscribes not being removed from list

I’ve had a few people tell me that they’ve unsubscribed from my list, but they keep getting my automation emails. What could be the problem here? How can I fix this? Thanks!

Hey!

It sounds like those unsubscribed contacts are still getting your automation emails because they may not be exiting the automation properly after unsubscribing. Or maybe they are on more than one list so they are still active in other automation. Here’s some things you can try:

  1. Double-Check the Unsubscribe Link: Sometimes the unsubscribe link might not be functioning properly, so make sure that the unsubscribe process is working smoothly for your contacts.
  2. Exit the Automation: It’s important to ensure that unsubscribed contacts exit your automation as soon as possible. You can do this by setting up an exit condition based on their unsubscribe status.
  3. Review Your Automation Triggers: If your automation doesn’t account for unsubscribes, contacts who have unsubscribed might still be going through the flow. Make sure your automation has a condition to check if the contact is unsubscribed and stops them from receiving future emails.
  4. Add Conditional Logic: Try adding an “If/Else” condition in your automation to check if a contact is unsubscribed. If they are, you can set it up so they won’t continue receiving emails from that automation.

Let me know how it goes!

Yes my hunch is that the contact is subscribed to multiple lists, so even if they unsubscribe from one (e.g. via from your newsletter unsubscribe link), if they’re still subscribed to another list they could still receive your automated emails.

You can check if this is the case by going to the contact records of the people who’ve told you, and checking their List subscription status and activity history.

Cloud it be that you’re sending them transactional emails?
