I have two different custom fields which are used to input dates. To simplify, I will name them A & B fields. There is always a date in the A field. Sometimes there is a date in both the A & B fields. If there is a date in the B field, I would need the automation to prioritize the B field and allow the ‘wait until conditions are met’ function based on the B date.
An alternative scenario to accomplish my goal is enable the input of the date in B field to also replace the date in the A field. Ideally a trigger (tag) would enable this new replacement value, not allowing the replacement value to happen instantly.
Can the default value in the date field help with my goal?
Are their any solutions that do not require the application of complex code?
Abbie from ActiveCampaign here! Sorry for missing this question - I wanted to follow up. I think the simplest solution to this will be to use an if/else question within the automation to ensure contacts take the right path, or get the correct follow up. Depending on your plan, you may also be able to simplify things using conditional content.
I would create an if/else step to check for B is blank - if the field is blank, my contacts will continue on a path using Field A to trigger follow up. If the field is not blank/there is a date saved, my contacts will take another path where I can create a copy of the follow up triggered by Field B instead.
