Start an Automation without a Trigger?

Hi all! I’m a total newbie to AC and am finding my way around until the orientation calls I have scheduled for next week.

In the meantime, I am struggling to get an automation started WITHOUT a trigger. In other words, I would like to simply specify a list of contacts, hit “go,” and the first email of the automation begins. I thought that perhaps I could start without a trigger, use an if/else block, specify that if someone is in the list, they receive the email as the next step, and then we’re good. But, that does not seem to be working as expected. Right now I am using a contact list of 1 with my personal email just to make sure it works properly before trying it with my entire list.

I would love any help anyone can offer me on this. Thank you!

Hi there, Amy from ActiveCampaign’s Customer Experience Team. We’re just refreshing our forum page and I wanted to add some help here for anyone who comes across this page/question/post.

You can trigger contacts into an automation through segmentation and bulk editing.

Steps are as follows:

  • Set up automation + set to active
  • Go to Contacts > search for list and search for active status
  • Edit all > bulk add to automation

See this demonstration of the above.
