Remove customers from automation

Need a bit of help here.

I want to set up a free 6-lesson course on my website as my lead magnet. After the free course is complete, contacts will then be taken through a 4 email sales funnel and offered the paid version of the course. But I obviously want to pull people out of the sales funnel when they buy the course.

What do I need set-up in my automation to remove customers from the sales funnel once they purchase the paid course? (I know that I’ll need to integrate AC with my payment processor…what I need to know is what I need to do within the automation itself.)

Thanks!

Ed

Hi Ed!

What you’re looking for is Goals:

You’d have your payment processor apply a tag. The Goal would look for the tag. When the tag is applied, the contacts will warp from where they are in the automation to the Goal. So, if you want the automation to end when they make the purchase, you’d place the Goal at the bottom of the automation. When they make the purchase, and the tag is applied, they’ll warp to the end of the automation effectively ending it.

Let me know if you have any questions about this!

Thanks Brian! That definitely helps!

But what do I use to split the customers from the non-customers? Split? Else/If?

Glad that’s useful.

What are you using to process payments? Many payment processors will allow you to apply tags on purchase. The Goal would look for that tag being applied to identify your customers and pull them out of the non-customer follow up.

I’m using Selz which I can connect to AC via Zapier. Tagging I know how to do. I’m just not sure what I do in the automation to split people into two groups…1) those who met the goal and exit the automation and 2) those who haven’t (yet) met the goal and need to continue in the automation. Is that done via "split"or “else/if” in the AC automation?

Ah, I see. When you add the Goal action, it will ask you to set its condition. You define the condition as “Has customer tag.” When contacts match that condition, they’ll jump to the Goal action. There’s no need to split them into two groups. There will be contacts (non-customers) going through the automation sequence, when they receive the customer tag, they’ll warp to the Goal action and the automation will end.

Let me know if you have any more questions about this. I think that if you add the Goal action to the automation, it will start to make more sense.

Thanks Brian! I think that makes sense. I’ll be working on putting the automation together tomorrow or Monday. If I run into any stumbling blocks, I’ll let you know.
