Is there a way to delete a custom contact field?

Hello. I am just getting familiar with ActiveCampaign and added a custom contact field to test out the functionality. This may be total newbie question, but I can’t figure out how to now delete the field or update its properties. Is this possible, and if so how? --Thanks

Hi @homehubzone!

Welcome to ActiveCampaign!

To delete a custom field, you’ll have to go lists then follow this screengrab: http://screen.ac/2k3l2J1G052o

Aahh. Thanks! Since I created the field on the contact, I didn’t realize that it was stored on the list(s). Got it now!

My pleasure! As it’s a very powerful function of our platform that can really add to the level of segmentation and personalization you’re putting out. Here’s a great piece of help documentation that dives into the different possibilities.

Also, make sure to check out this walkthrough! http://www.activecampaign.com/videos/contacts/

Just click on the custom field one below contacts.

The screengrab doesn’t work anymore. Can you explain how to delete fields?

I’m also interested in adding/removing options from a drop-down type field.

Hi John!

Both of those things can be done from the Manage Fields interface.

Click Lists in the top menu.

You’ll see a blue square in the upper-left portion of the screen. Click “Manage Fields.”

Select the checkbox of the field you want to delete and click the Delete button that appears above the list of fields.

To edit the field, click the Edit button to the right of the field name.

Let me know if a screen capture would be more clear and I’ll whip one up.

Thanks! I figured it out.

Your original message was enough to get me on the right screen and I figured things out.
