How to Stop an Email Sequence When a Tag Is Detected Using Goals?

Urgghhh, I cannot figure out for the life of me how to do something so simple in other systems. Been waiting for tech support to give me an answer for over a week and none of them have come up with anything. So here we go.

Trying to figure out how to stop any further emails from sending when a contact has any of multiple tags added. So for instance I have an automation setup with a series of 6 emails, each has a 2 day delay between sends.

The sequence is to remind the person to schedule an appointment. Whenever the person schedules an appointment via phone we will manually login and add a tag to indicate that. Then once that tag is added, no further reminder emails should be sent to that person. I’ve done this a million times in Infusionsoft so figured it would be super simple in ActiveCampaign but no dice.

Reading the support documents they recommend adding a goal to the middle or end of your automation if you want to stop the sequence. Did that and tried every imaginable combination using OR statements with all the tags and still nothing.

You can see my setup in the screenshots below. Right now no emails are sent with my current configuration, it immediately says the contact has met the goal and no emails go out. Can anyone please help me with this??

Hey @blazinmultimedia263,

That does look like it should be working. Do you have your Support ticket number so I can send it along?

The alternative way to end a sequence like this other than goals, is with a second automation. Create multiple triggers for each tag that is meant to freeze this automation, and then add the action “End other automation.” That could be a quick fix while support gets to the bottom of this.

Ok thanks for the workaround jskole I’ll hold tight and see if tech support can get this problem worked out in the next few days. If not I’ll start looking for alternative measures like you mentioned. Thanks for the tip

Waited over a month and still nothing, can anyone help?? Very frustrated with the level of support for such a basic and common piece of functionality.

While tech support is looking into this, the quick fix it to create a new automation that is triggered by the tag being applied. The first action would be “end other automation” and select the automation you want to end.
