How to monitor/track purchases of specific products

Hi all,

I had someone install event tracking for me, which only tracks a general purchase. I would like to be able to track which specific products are purchased so that I can send automated emails about this purchased product (i.e. someone bought a cleanser so I want to be able to send a “how to use” about this product).

For weeks now I’ve been in contact with support and also my developer who installed the event tracking but it’s not getting anywhere.

Can someone please advise what needs to be done to track individual product purchases?

Thank you in advance!

Mel

Hi Mel!

What ecommerce solution are you using?

Hey Brian,

Woocommerce. I’d prefer not to use Zapier if it can be avoided.

Thank you!

Ah, that was going to be my suggestion… to pass the line items as a tag via Zapier. We’re planning a much, much deeper native integration with Woocommerce but it is probably months out.

Hi - I have seen others recommend this plugin: https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/wc-ac-hook/

I haven’t used it (or Woo commerce) but thought you may want to investigate. I don’t know if others here have experience of it?

Thanks so much Mike, that could actually work. I’ll give it a shot.

Turns out I already had this plugin installed. I just have to set up the tag. Can you tell me how such a tag should look like?

I’m a relatively new user, so not the best person to advise on your Tag taxonomy. If you haven’t had your free on-boarding call with the AC team, a friend of mine had one last week and got a lot. Also try looking at Barry Moore’s Ninja Tagging guide (a free download from his site theactivemarketer. The best guidance is: 1 plan out you tagging structure (taxonomy) up front and 2 develop a consistent style for naming each tag (syntax). I would label everyone who buys a product with a tag denoting a) that they are a paying customer and b) what product they bought, so [CUSTOMER] WidgetA1.

Spot on Mike, the Active Marketer was just perfect! Thank you!

Hi all,

Biannca here from our CX team. In the spirit of providing insight on this question, you can utilize automations to automatically tag contacts based on their purchase interests.

We actually have an automation recipe you can use https://www.activecampaign.com/au/marketplace/recipe/product-category-interest-tagging which you can adapt to your business needs and tag contacts based on Product Name/SKU/Category, etc so you can tag contacts based on their purchase.

Please don’t hesitate to reply back out or email us at help@activecampaign.com if you have any further questions.
