I need to add different TAGs to a contact based on answer choices in a check box list on a form. It seems like many would want to let their visitors select which topics / TAGs they would like further mailings on… not based on lists (I prefer them all in my main list)… but on TAGs.
You can do this by creating an automation that looks for certain custom field values and then adds the corresponding tags. Basically the automation would convert their custom field selections into tags.
With so many possible selections, it might be a bit of a bear to set up initially but you only have to do it once. Let me know if you need more guidance on how to create this.

Sure. So your trigger would be the “Field changes” trigger. I would set it up like this so it runs every time there is a change:
Then I’d create a waterfall of “If/Else” conditions that adds and removes tags depending on what is selected:

That did the job and wasn’t so hard to set up… just 11 or 12 iterations of a simple If/Then & TAG.

Just add an idea… if you’re on Small Business Package, you’ll have feature of “Lead Scoring” … not only you can tag, but if some tag is more valuable than other tag… you can do more segmenting and filtering by Lead Scoring

Hi, I’m trying to do the same thing but not having any luck. Is there anyway for you to share your automation recipe with me? I to would like to change my drop menu items from custom fields to tags. I see the the automation status as completed but the tags are not appearing.
