When I create an account through the API and the is an error (f.i. duplicate name) it is quite clear there is nothing created.
However. When you create an account and one of the (custom) fields has an invalid entry the account IS created, but you won’t get the account ID back.
Instead you get an error (which is OK) about what went wrong, but at the same time you might think the account is not created, which is not true.
It is also quite clumzy you cannot search accounts by name (through the API). If that was true it would be possible to act on the error and see if the account has been created.
