Easy way to add states to dropdown?

I feel like I already know the answer to this, but I’m hoping I’m wrong so I’ll ask anyway. I noticed that address fields don’t exist on the contact level, only the account level. We don’t use that object too much and I’d prefer to have them on the Contact object. I know I can create custom fields. I want to have a dropdown for state so I don’t get all kinds of random text entries. My question is this: Is there a way to import a list of states into the drop down or am I required to enter them all in one by one?

We’ve got a great help article on how to do this here.
If you set up a Checkbox Custom Field, you can hit “Show Advanced” to add a list of Countries or US States. I hope this helps! :slight_smile:

Is this only an option on checkbox, not dropdown? I don’t want to allow multiple entries, so I’d prefer to have a dropdown on the State field.

Hi Dana. This can be done with dropdowns. Create the field, save it, then edit it and select Show Advanced. Depending on your needs, you may want to remove the Armed Forces options. Cheers.
