Hi there - I am looking to send out annual email reminders to contacts however I need the trigger for these emails to be based on a date from a custom field on an Account and not the Contact.
This is because I want the same email to go to multiple contacts at that Account rather than just one specific contact. To manually update every contact with the relevant custom date field will be very time consuming and also open to human error (especially as these contacts are transient).
Does anyone know if this is possible? Or can suggest a smart workaround?
Thanks, Owen
Hi Owen,
Welcome to our AC Forum!
Thanks for posting here.
At this time, our Date Based Trigger only works for Contact and Deal fields. We’re sorry for the inconvenience. We do agree that being able to use Account fields would be very useful so I recommend posting it to our ideas page at ideas.activecampaign.com
As far as a workaround goes, we think the only way to do this would be to set up an automation without a trigger, and adding a Wait step that holds the contact until the Account, date-field is the current date. Here’s a short recording that shows how to add the Wait step: https://screen.ac/9ZuRZmqR Once that has been added, you will put the annual email right after the wait step. Next, you can do an advanced search by the Account Name, then use a Bulk Edit to add them all into the automation. Once they are added in, it will hold everybody there until the date that is listed in the custom account field. When they finally reach that date, the email will send out to all the contacts. Hope this helps!
