Create automation for contact who does NOT click on email

I feel like there is an easy answer to this that I am just not finding, but how do I set up an automation to trigger an follow up email to go out to only contacts who have not clicked on an email?

If it’s an email that was sent as part of an automation, you could create an automation that doesn’t have a trigger. In the automation where the email is being sent, just have a set wait time and then create the condition “has opened email.” For the “No” category, have those contacts start the new automation you created without a trigger.

If this is for a campaign, I’m not sure a non-open could trigger the automation for non-opens. You could create an automation that is triggered by a tag being added to a contact. For sake of example, let’s say that trigger tag you create for this automation is “Campaign XYZ Did Not Open.” After the time frame is up that you’d give someone a chance to open the original email, you could do an advanced search in your contacts, or create a segment based on those that did NOT open the campaign. Then select everyone and apply that “Campaign XYZ Did Not Open” to all of those contacts. This will then trigger the automation you created based on that tag being added.

Not sure if that’s the best approach, but all I can think of off the top of my head.

I’m new here, but… couldn’t you just set up the automation to send the follow-ups assuming non-open, but then STOP if they open? So make sending the default (knowing that quite a few won’t open) and then stop sending if they open, and drop the openers into a different sequence?

Again, I’m new to AC, but that’s how I’d do it in another platform.

Hello, we are having the same problem here. We want to send a 1st email and then if this email is not open then we want to send a second one as a reminder. The problem is that there is no trigger that says (if 1st mail is not open, then trigger). I know that there is inside the automation, but as the first steps. Wouldn’t it be easier to send automations as campaigns in a specific time and date? Instead of triggering it?

Yes, same here—seems like a pretty standard use case.

Can anyone recommend a good workaround with automation (e.g., a good way to add tags to pull contacts who didn’t open into a resend?)

I have been wondering the same thing since I started with ActiveCampaign. It seems logical to me to follow up a campaign with someone that doesn’t read the email. I have been choosing the “resend options” to send to contacts that haven’t opened the email but this is cumbersome and not automatic. I would think this a feature that many people would like.
