Best way to start automation when new contact is created

I’d like to start an automation when a new user is created. The closest thing I have found is to watch a field that I know will be populated on new contact creations and trigger on the “field changes”. Most automation systems have a “contact is created” trigger am I missing something or ideas on the best approach to this?

You could also do this with the “Form submitted” trigger (if an AC form is what creates that contact) or you could use the “Subscribes” trigger if they’re added to a list when the contact is created.

Note that if you’re sending them a campaign email in that automation, they’ll need to be subscribed to a list.

I’m also struggling with this one.

Use Case
I need to have all my contacts subscribed to a list in order for Zapier to add new AC contacts as new leads in Salesforce, so every new contact must be added to an ‘All Contacts’ list for that zap to work.

I’ll try the field change idea from @feedotter258 and add a trigger on ‘form submitted’ from @Brian, but as contacts can be added manually it’s not going to capture all.

I agree, a “New Contact” trigger would be very useful here…

Consider creating a tag “new contact”. Apply the tag through form submit or manually apply the tag when the contact record is manually created. Have that tag be a trigger for the automation you desire.

That does work - as long as all AC users remember to do so when manually creating contacts!

So far the “add all new contacts to the ALL CONTACTS list” is working for me and is foolproof.

Hey all,

Biannca here from our CX team, I wanted to share this piece of information for those that come across this post.

The start triggers for an automation will only apply to contacts that fulfill the trigger condition AFTER the automation has been set to “Active” those contacts who met the automation conditions in the past will not be added.
