I have a custom contact date field called ‘Renewal Date’ I created and automation for it to send and email reminder 2 days before the renewal date is reached. I want to use for all my 400 contacts so added them to the automation. It sent out 400 emails straight away and id not wait until the due date.
I am new to active campaign and have obviously done something stupid. Can anyone provide me with an idiot proof guide on how to do please.

Hi Andy. When you create the automation it will ask you to choose a trigger, choose “Date based”. If you have already created the automation you can just change/add the date based trigger inside the automation at the very top. When you add this trigger it will let you configure the rules. All you need to do is choose “2 days before” and then choose your custom field. You don’t need to add people to the automation manually because as you now know, this sends it to everyone lol. the date based trigger is telling ActiveCampaign to run the automation 2 days before the date in the custom field you have added to your trigger. That’s it. Hope that helps. Matt
