Automation entering limit

Is there a limit on entering an automation by the same contact? We face a problem that any contact can enter an automation maximum 10 times. The automation starts when a tag is added. Removing and adding the tag has no effect when the automation start counter reaches 10. Please help. Thank you.

Hi!

Thanks for reaching out about this. A contact cannot enter the same automation more than 10 times in a 24 hour time period. It sounds like this is what’s happening here.

It’s possible we can help you find a good workaround though. Book a 1:1 session with the Customer Success team to discuss your current set up and options. Feel free to schedule time here.

Thanks and talk soon!

Hi there, Amy from ActiveCampaign’s Customer Experience Team. We’re just refreshing our forum page and I wanted to add some help here for anyone who comes across this page/question/post.

If you’re using a ‘tag is added’ start trigger, and then an action to remove the tag, there is a possibility that whatever action applies the tag to the contact may be adding the tag over and over again in a short period of time. A contact can trigger an automation 10 times in the past 24 hours so this is why the contact is triggering the automation multiple times.

An option would be to change the start trigger to ‘runs once’, should you only want them to enter once and have the tag removed after entering the automation. Though please note, this will mean that the contact will not have the opportunity to re-trigger the automation.

Should you wish for them to re-trigger the automation, you can have the start trigger set to ‘runs multiple times’ with a 1 day wait step directly beneath the start trigger. This will ensure the contact waits a full 24 hours before having the tag removed and then re-triggering the automation (so long as you have the ‘remove tag’ step beneath this).
