I’d like to duplicate the set of conditions applied to an existing advanced search in Contacts. This is simply to save the time and errors associated with recreating a complex expression with the GUI. Is this possible?

In the spirit of providing insight on this question, it’s not currently possible to duplicated saved searches.
I would highly recommend submitting this as an idea at ideas.activecampaign.com, where our team check this frequently and seek to implement ideas that are well supported.
