Use variables in RSS feed URL

#1

Hi guys,

I am trying to include a personalized RSS feed for each user in an automation.

Unfortunately this does not seem to work. Is a feature like this supported?

Edit:

I tried it with a custom code in an empty mail template, but the variable %ORDER_ID% is not replaced when sending the mail to the contact.

%RSS-FEED|URL:http://www.site.com/feed.php?orderId=%ORDER_ID%|SHOW:ALL%

%RSS:CHANNEL:TITLE%

%RSS-LOOP|LIMIT:10%

%RSS:ITEM:DATE%
%RSS:ITEM:TITLE%
%RSS:ITEM:SUMMARY%
%RSS:ITEM:LINK%

%RSS-LOOP%

%RSS-FEED%

Is there a workaround you guys can think about, or another way to get this done?

Thanks!

Hi,

Does anyone know if it’s possible? I would like to do the same thing.

Best regards

Hi,

Just jumping in here real quick. At this time, RSS feeds can’t be personalized at the contact level using personalization tags. A workaround for this would be to build out individual RSS based automations for each feed if only certain contacts should receive that feed. Building out RSS campaigns and using segmentation to ensure only the right contacts are sent the campaign is another method.

If you would like to see this feature added, I would encourage you to submit the idea here: https://ideas.activecampaign.com/ideas/new. All submissions are reviewed by our Product team who are welcome to new ideas.

Let me know if you need any clarification or have any other questions.

Thank you,
Cody
