Reports - Unique vs Total Clicks

Hi - I have a Campaign Reports question. From a given campaign, I am observing 1 unique that clicked a total of 8 times. Is the 8 total clicks attributable to that one unique who in fact clicked on 8 separate occassions, OR, is it possible that the one unique forwarded the campaign to others which subsequently clicked to total 8x? I was told by a peer that the total clicks could be other people outside of an active campaign contact that was forwarded the link, thus can contribute to the total click number. Hope that makes sense and any point of view appreciated! Active campaign support is looking into this question, but has yet to respond. Thanks.
